The Intermediate Diving Program is designed mostly for divers who are beyond
the beginner stage but not yet in high school. This program continues
teaching the fundamentals begun in the beginning class, but the speed of
the progressions increases and the skills become more complex. The
trampoline and spotting belts are used more extensively, and divers
participate in more extensive dryland drills for both strength and muscle
coordination. Typically this is the class where we develop dives from all
five groups including forward, backward, inward, reverse, and twisting groups.
In addition, we try to develop a somersault in each of these directions.
The three meter springboard is utilized more extensively for line-ups as
well as for dive groups. Again, the coaches emphasize mechanics and skills
extensively because the goal of this class is to prepare the divers to
qualify for the age group team. We encourage Intermediate Divers to attend
the monthly Utah Diving League Meets to demonstrate the skills they have
learned.
